Second Street work resumes

Traffic Supervisor Joe Mann sets up a sign notifying drivers of a detour around the Second Street bridge.

As warmer weather returns to the area, so does work on Second Street.

Heading into March, the City closed a section of Second Street on either side of the bridge as crews prepare to replace the bridge.

The road closure will extend between Bluff and State streets with signs announcing the detours.

This is the next phase of a project started last summer. City staff and contractors broke up asphalt, restructured the road, laid new asphalt, and replaced curbs.

The detour for light traffic will go along Bluff Street to E. Fifth Street and then return to Second Street via State Street.

This will also close the sidewalk and Stinson Creek Trail along the same stretch of roadway.
The project is funded through a federal grant held by the Missouri Department of Transportation.
