Hunter Orientation Meeting Scheduled
Bow hunters interested in hunting on City of Fulton property during the 2011-2012 hunting season must attend an orientation class on Thursday, September 8. It begins at 7 p.m. inside the Fulton City Hall Council Chambers with the Missouri Department of Conservation conducting the class.
Bow hunting has been allowed inside the city limits for six years, but this is only the second season that City of Fulton property will be made available to hunters. Hunting inside the City limits was started in an attempt to lower the number of vehicle collisions with deer. There will be several separate locations, in mostly secluded areas of the city, available for use.
When hunting on City-owned land, all hunters must have a parking permit displayed in their vehicle and carry their city permit with them. Also, Hunters must be at least 17 years old to hunt without direct supervision of an adult and must follow all Missouri Department of Conservation regulations. The bow hunting season runs from September 15 through November 11 and November 23 until January 15, 2012.
Hunters who attended last year’s orientation meeting will have to attend this year’s meeting as well in order to stay updated on any changes to rules and regulations.
