Field of Joy Added to Festival of Lights Lineup

The City of Fulton and the Callaway County Salvation Army Service Unit are teaming up to add a new area during the Festival of Lights known as the Field of Joy.  Located on Murphy Field in Veterans Park, the Field of Joy will include trees, ranging from four to ten feet tall, which will encircle the field.  In the center will be a tree standing approximately 40 feet tall provided by the City.

All smaller trees, along with any decorations, must be provided by residents and businesses.  Real, artificial and wire trees will be accepted.  Families, churches, civic organizations and other nonprofits can sponsor a tree for $25, while business sponsorships are available for $50.  Included in the price are signs identifying a tree’s sponsor.  The deadline to have a tree included in the Field of Joy is Tuesday, November 15.

The Festival of Lights begins on December 1, 2016 with the lighting of the Wish Tree in Veterans Park. At 5:30 p.m. The attraction will then run nightly until Monday, January 2, 2017.  Participants who would like to keep their tree and ornaments must remove them from Murphy Field by Monday, January 2. Potential sponsors with any questions can contact the Parks and Recreation Department at 573-592-3190.
