The City of Fulton, through the Callaway Betterment Foundation, has begun a fundraising campaign to build a new animal shelter. The goal is to raise $250,000 by 2014. Donors can purchase engraved bricks for $50 or $100 each, depending on the size, to honor a pet or anyone else. There are also other opportunities available for those who wish to donate larger amounts. Donations can be made online by clicking the link below or forms can be printed off and mailed to City Hall. Forms can also be picked up at City Hall, Garrett Animal Shelter, Kingdom of Callaway Chamber of Commerce, and Central Bank. Please contact City Hall at 573-592-3111 for more information.
The new animal shelter will be built on land owned by the City of Fulton off Industrial Drive, between Business Route 54 and Westminster Avenue. This location is far enough away from residential neighborhoods and public parks, but still in an area that is easy to find from anywhere in town. The remote location also will allow dogs to roam free in the fenced-in outdoor play area without risk of being harrassed by outsiders.
