The Fulton City Council unanimously passed a resolution at Tuesday night’s meeting supporting plans for major upgrades to Fulton State Hospital. FSH has been a part of the Fulton community since 1851 and is the oldest public mental health facility west of the Mississippi River.
“The state hospital means a lot to the people of Fulton,” said Fulton Deputy Mayor Richard Vaughn. “A new hospital complex will mean jobs in the area which will lead to a larger tax base for the City.”
Upgrades to FSH are also supported by the Kingdom of Callaway Chamber of Commerce, Fulton Area Development Corporation, State Representative Jeanie Riddle and Governor Jay Nixon.
